Religious Related Absences
The Board of Education recognizes the diversity of religious traditions represented among the staff and students of the Howard County Public School System and the value such diversity adds to the educational program. The Board respects the religious practices of staff and students and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for religious obligations. The absence request form for an absence for a religious obligation can be access by clicking on the link below and submit the completed form to the front office at least 2 weeks in advance. This form will be sent to the Board of Education to be reviewed.

Extended or Discretionary Absences
If your child will be absent from school for an extended period of time or you wish to have your child use his/her discretionary days (3 per school year) for an absence, please click on the link below and submit the completed form at least 2 weeks in advance to the front office to be reviewed.
